In keeping with preparations for the future I actually offered to make chapattis this weekend. That and my mum's wrist had swollen to twice its size and of course our regular chapatti maker (read household help) was yet to turn up and with the sun rising high in the sky, hunger was difficult to keep at bay.
Its ,of course, a knack, to belo them, of equal thinness (or thickness as you look at it), keep roasting them parallelly on an extremely hot 'tava' which can be a likened to a frying pan without the edges and not burn any in the process, while getting fresh ones beloed.
Chapattis are an important component of meals made at home. It is a thin bread (roasted or fried) made of dough that can be made of wheat flour, rice flour with other additions like soya, jowar, bajra. Each has a different texture, taste and accompaniment to eat with it.
Making them, of course, is an ultimate admission of prowess that I, THE INDIAN GURL, knows in the kitchen and therefore makes her ready for the ultimate event of her life....
For the first time, it was not such a bad result and was eaten with a minimum of fuss and hopefully this opens up an entire world of stuffed parathas, pooris, dosas and the likes..
